BCL CHAIRMAN PANELIST AT CHICOS 2019 MONTEGO BAY JAMAICA
The 9th Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference and Operational Summit (“CHICOS”) was held at Secrets Resort in Montego Bay Jamaica 14th and 15th November 2019 and continued the hugely successful progress of this leading gathering of players in the resort development and operation of tourism in the Caribbean with some 325 participants.
BCL’s chairman Martyn Bould has been a speaker at every one of the nine events and this year was a panelist discussing Hotel Design: Focused on Building to Satisfy the Ever Changing Customer Demands and Weather Patterns. Fellow panelists included designers, project managers, Government representatives, hotel operators and contractors. Key talking points included the latest features and facilities of hotels, construction methodology options and the reaction of the industry to the recent devastating hurricanes in the region.
Keen interest was noted in the stage of the global and regional economic cycle with a slowing of RevPar (Revenue Per Available Room) and ADR (Average Daily Rate) in the Caribbean measured against an increasing supply of rooms to the market, as well as changing dynamics including major brands entering the all inclusive market for the first time, and lenders noting a ready supply of funding for new projects
As always CHICOS provided a unique opportunity to gather together in one location highly experienced players in the tourist field from Government, Operators, Investors, Developers, Lenders and Professional Advisors.
CHICOS will celebrate its 10th anniversary in November 2020 at Baha Mar in Nassau.
