In line with the theme of the RICS/IPTI 11th Annual Caribbean Valuation & Construction Conference of “Learning From the Past, Looking into the Future Sustainability & Climate Change” BCL’s Chairman. Martyn Bould, was part of a 3 person panel including Michael Robinson of Michael Robinson and Associates and moderated by Alexandra Facui who is the Next Generation and Sustainability Lead, Americas World Regional Board RICS, Canada, presenting “CONSTRUCTION Looking into the Future”.
Michael has been tirelessly working to implement a Construction Industry Policy for Jamaica for many years to attempt to ensure best practice both in the commercial side of construction as well as for professionals and provided the audience with an insightful description of the goals, guiding principles, and rules and responsibilities. Following Michael, Martyn’s presentation dovetailed well highlighting the analysis of risk in the development and construction areas and how such analysis benefited the choice and use of alternative procurement routes during the development process.
Martyn provided many real-life experiences from the last 50 years of service provision in the Caribbean detailing challenges and experience sharing and how these led to innovations that can be implemented in current projects to deliver best in class service.
A lively question and answer session followed the presentations.
