GEORGE TOWN REVITILISATION MEETING
GEORGE TOWN REVITILISATION MEETING

Bould consulting Limited were invited to participate in a progress meeting held on Tuesday 12th September 2023 on the revitalization plans for central George Town, now entering its second phase, following the completion of the pedestrianization of Cardinal Avenue earlier this year.

In recent years, following the development of Camana Bay and Cricket Square, many businesses have moved away from the Capital and the revitalization initiative is now breathing new life into the town.

Project lead Colin Lumsden provided a comprehensive presentation of Phase Two which will highlight the iconic architecture of the Central Post Office , Library and Town Hall ( now called Constitution Hall) and improve pedestrian and traffic flow with extensive landscaping paving seating and lighting.

There are also to be modifications to several traffic junctions and changes in traffic direction around the Post Office, and other future plans in later phases of George Town Revitalization include intention to restrict speed and weights of vehicles through the town centre, as well as improvements to Public Transport and a larger quantity of better quality parking.  There are also plans to enhance the night time economy of Central George Town, as many of the local businesses are focused on the Cruise Ship passengers.
